Board of Directors Meeting

August 16, 2023 – 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Location: 800 Market St, Ste 200

Chattanooga, TN 37402

Call to Order

Kelly Fitzgerald, Chair of the DCA, called the meeting to order. DCA Board Members attending were Rep. Greg Martin, Keeli Crewe, Todd Philips, John Clark, Susan Harris, Gordon Stalans and Donald O’Connor.

Also, in attendance was DCA Executive Director, Steve Brookes.

Not attending were Adam Kinsey, Brandy Burgans, Kevin Love, Tom Marshall, Chairwoman Dotley, and Councilman Ledford.

1.   Approval of Minutes

The DCA Board of Directors approved the minutes from the June 21, 2023 meeting.

2.   CARTA Breezeway

Kelly and Steve discussed the how the pilot program in the CARTA breezeway was going. Stats were shared with the Board on the number of people who used the restroom and also the number of people the Ambassadors assisted with directions. Feedback had been obtained from the surrounding businesses and property owner. Comments from garage users was also shared with the Board of Directors. The pilot program is set to end on Labor Day.

3.  DCA Renewal

Steve shared with the Board that according to City Ordinance a formal evaluation of the Downtown CBID/DCA must be completed by the Board on the fifth anniversary. Steve will research three firms who can provide this service. The Executive Committee will make a recommendation to the Board on who should conduct this evaluation for the Board.

4.  Finance Committee Update

Gordon told the committee that the DCA is in good financial standings. Also, the DCA has begun the budget approval process with City Council.

5. Executive Directors Report

Steve provided an update on the DCA Stakeholder meeting that will take place on September 20th.
