Downtown Welcomes Mumashika, New Sister Restaurant to Attack of the Tatsu

Businesses often grow and evolve over time, but it’s not every day that growth leads to an entirely new concept just steps away from the original.

Nearly three years after opening Attack of the Tatsu in downtown Chattanooga, owner Daniel Starkey has expanded his vision with the opening of Mumashika, a new dinner-only restaurant located next door. While Attack of the Tatsu has become a local favorite for its ramen, izakaya-inspired dishes and Japanese whisky selection, Mumashika offers a distinctly different experience centered around seasonal ingredients, charcoal-grilled yakitori and an ever-changing menu.

Created by the same team behind Attack of the Tatsu, Mumashika was designed as a creative outlet for both Starkey and his staff. The restaurant embraces a seasonally driven approach to dining, with a menu that evolves weekly and is shaped by available ingredients and the chefs' techniques. Rather than offering the same meal every visit, Mumashika invites guests to experience something new each time they dine.

The concept reflects the team's passion for Japanese cuisine while giving Chattanooga diners another unique culinary experience downtown. From carefully crafted dishes to an intimate dinner atmosphere, Mumashika builds on the success of Attack of the Tatsu while carving out its own identity.

As one successful business grows into two, the expansion is another example of the continued investment and entrepreneurial spirit helping shape Chattanooga's downtown dining scene.
