The Waymark Hotel Opens in the Heart of Downtown Chattanooga, Rooftop Bar and Speakeasy Draw Locals and Visitors Alike

Downtown Chattanooga welcomes a new chapter in hospitality with the opening of The Waymark Hotel, a thoughtfully restored landmark that blends historic architecture with modern comfort and vibrant gathering spaces.

Located in the former 1927 Chattanooga Savings Bank & Trust Company building, The Waymark brings renewed energy to a long-vacant cornerstone of downtown. Now part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton, the boutique-style hotel features 148 uniquely designed guestrooms that preserve the building’s original character while introducing contemporary finishes and amenities for today’s traveler.

“From day one, the Downtown Chattanooga Alliance has been a fantastic partner,” said Kyle Strigenz of HKS Holdings. “Steve Brookes proactively reached out to introduce himself and their program. He and his team got right to work, boarded up the building early on, and supported us throughout the renovation. He saw our vision and what this amazing building could become long before anyone else.”

Beyond its guest rooms, The Waymark is creating new experiences for both visitors and locals through distinctive dining and social spaces.

At the top of the building, Iris Rooftop Bar offers panoramic views of downtown and Lookout Mountain, handcrafted cocktails, shareable plates, and an inviting rooftop atmosphere designed for brunch, evening dining, and special gatherings.

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Happy Hour: Monday to Thursday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Below street level, The Vault transforms the building’s original bank vault into an intimate speakeasy, pairing historic charm with inventive cocktails and a refined, lounge-style ambiance. Menus are coming soon. The current hours for The Vault are Tuesday to Saturday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

“Steve and his team made us feel so welcome,” said Kelly Helton, general manager for The Waymark. “Before our grand opening, they cleaned the street and spread mulch in the tree boxes, then even painted the fire hydrants. They go above and beyond.”

The Waymark offers a collection of refined event spaces, including The Library Boardroom on the street level, The Parlor on the second floor, and the rooftop Vista space with a private terrace, ideal for holiday parties, conferences, weddings, and more.
